FAQ

When is book 2 of the Magi series coming out?

The 8th Fire is currently in the second rewrite which is about 75% complete. There were just too many loose ends in the first version and more than a couple of things just didn't work out logically. I've posted the first chapter of the 8th Fire and will be adding to it in the near future.

Why does Mr. Diefenderfer talk the way he does? It is really annoying, can you change it?

Mr. Diefenderfer suffered a serious brain injury 15 years before you meet him at The Seventh Mountain and his injury is crucial to the overall story.

Why is the story so close to Harry Potter?

That is an unintended consequence of all schools being similar in many respects. The flavor of the story was actually influenced by the movie The Mummy Returns. I had actually written this plot in the late 1980s as and adult action-adventure, but 'Delta Force' novels were (still are) all over the place at that time.

Why is the story considered a Young Adult novel?

You're right to ask that question since more than 90% of the readers are adults. The heroes of the story are preteen.

How many books are going to be in the series?

There are eight books planned for the entire series with a possibility of seven 'tween novels, one for each of the main characters besides Mark (Chenoa, Nick, Jamal, Cap'n Ben, LeOmi and James) and one for the back story on Mark's mom, Shirley. I know you've got to be wondering why she seems a little not quite right.

You're finishing up another book, Regal Wind. Why not just finish up the Magi series?

Regal Wind is just about complete. I needed to get my mind onto something other than the 8th Fire for a bit. Plus, I'm teaming up with Hugo Award winning author and artist Ron Miller and Regal Wind is the one he selected to co-author.
