LeOmi's Solitude, 1st of the Magi Side Stories When developing the story of The Seventh Mountain I bounced ideas around with my wife. She got so involved with it that when it came time for developing characters that would carry the story forward she wanted to develop one of the 7 core friends by herself. Not long after that the story of LeOmi was born.

LeOmi was such a dark and standoffish character, so out of the boundaries of normal that I felt it would take quite a bit of writing to do her character, the spike haired girl, justice; it would probably take another entire book to explain how she got chosen as a Magi. It did. My wife wrote it.

Regal Wind, the 2nd Magi Side Story was originally intended to show one of the 7 core friends at The Seventh Mountain, Nick-the tech geek, helping a complete stranger by using one of the powers Magi are taught: Dream Casting. The story evolved into much more than that: terrorist plot to destroy the US and the teleport of a cruise liner back in time. Hugo Award winning author & artist Ron Miller did a story edit and advised a prologue to show why the main bad guy was so damned evil. That prologue turned into a novella, the result of which is you may end up sympathizing with the bad guy a bit too much. Nick did still manage to make a cameo dream appearance now and then, but if you like teenaged, kick-butt, machinegun wielding spy gals, you'll likely love Jeanne Wilcox.
